Sports Award Evening 2017

On Monday 3rd July, the PE department hosted The Henry Beaufort School's annual Sports Award Evening to recognise and reward the many talented sport stars we have here.

We were privileged to welcome Cassie Patten to the awards evening as our guest speaker. Cassie won a Bronze medal in the Beijing Olymics for the Open Water Swimming event and had some incredibly inspiring words to pass on to all the students.

During the evening awards were given to Player of the Season and Most Improved for all teams across all the year groups – football, netball, rugby, rounders, handball, cricket, gymnastics and dance. There were many worthwhile winners!

The final awards during the evening were;

Team of the Year – this was awarded to the Year 9 Boys Rugby Team who had an incredible season. Their commitment and enthusiasm was exemplary. Attendance to practice was always incredible and they finished 5th overall at their last Hampshire RFU tournament after making incredible progress throughout the year.

Team of the Year - Year 9 Rugby Team

Sports Personalities - Sport personalities are chosen for a variety of reasons

The Year 7 winner is the most quiet (or so you think!) young lady. She is an incredibly talented gymnast and is also crucial members of the rounder and football team.  When in a sporting situation she is super determined and a little star.

The winner was Daisy.

The Year 8 winner is a young man with a huge personality. Always quick with a one liner and has, since joining in Year 7, been an influential member and leader of the rugby team. Within PE lessons he is super helpful and will always put others before himself.  An absolute star.

The winner was Stan.

The Year 9 winner is a young man with a great sense of humour and will always make the PE department and his friends laugh. He is very respectful and in turn is hugely respected amoungst his peers.

The winner was Joey.

The Year 10 winner is a young lady who is the most determined performer in any sporting situation - losing is not an option! She is hardworking and incredibly conscientious.

The winner is Jess.

Sport Captains

The Sport Captains are chosen due to their exemplary attitude and behaviour in both PE lesson and extra curricular school sport. They show full commitment to school teams and always take a lead role in helping organise the teams. They have been awarded their ‘Sports Ties’ and  will now take on a crucial role next year as they will create a Sport Council so that they can be the voice of the students for an sport relating matters.
