USA Trip

On April 10th, 30 Year 8 and 9 Henry Beaufort students and three staff went to Philadelphia in the USA for one week. They stayed in a lovely Hotel and travelled to Washington, New York and Philadelphia Zoo. They went to see Amish farms and homes and visited a local school.
Everyone had a really brilliant time. The number of comments on how polite and well behaved the students were, was very impressive!

SKI 2013

On the 6th - 13th April, 56 students and 6 teachers from the Henry Beaufort School went skiing to Le Corbier in the Haute Savoie region of France. The trip was a massive success with all students enjoying the benefit of ESF ski classes and ski exploring. Après-ski included bowling, a local disco, a meal in a local restaurant, a quiz and a movie night.

Football Success!

After a successful season for school football, our Year 8 and Year 9 teams look like they will be promoted next season. The Year 9 team won their league after an unbeaten campaign which included a tight 1-0 win over Westgate School. The Year 8 team came second in their division and were only beaten on goal difference. Credit goes to Mr Hill who has transformed this team into a team who have gained acclaim from other teachers across the county.

Students from Henry Beaufort spent time at Sainsbury's raising money for the Magic Wand Appeal, on Saturday 9th March. The students did really well and Mrs Arnold was delighted when members of the public told her how polite and well mannered the students were. They raised nearly £450 which is a brilliant start to their fundraising campaign.

On Monday 11th March we are holding a Non Uniform Day to raise money for our yearly charity. This year we are supporting the 'Magic Wand Appeal' which seeks to improve and refurbish the Children's Ward at the Winchester Hospital. If you send your child to school with £1 then they can dress in non-uniform which is appropriate for the day.

Hockey Match Victory

The Henry Beaufort Year 7 Hockey team drew against Kings and were crowned the joint winners of a five-school hockey festival that took place at Thornden School, on Wednesday 27 February. The team had been training since before Christmas and had shown a great level of commitment and progress.

Comenius visit

In May, twenty-one students from our partner schools in Germany, Italy and Austria came over to Winchester as part of the Comenius project. The ongoing project lasts two years and is aimed at teaching Henry Beaufort students and our European partners the positive reasons to lead a healthy lifestyle. HB students win golds at Languages Conference

Henry Beaufort achieves an Artsmark Gold Award

Henry Beaufort has just been awarded the Gold Award. This means that we are recognised as having outstanding arts provision across the school. In order to gain this award we had to put together an audit of all the experiences we offer our students in the arts. We also had to host a visit by a representative of the Arts Council.

Minister for Schools pays a visit to Henry Beaufort

On Thursday 23 February, Henry Beaufort played host to a visit by Minister for Schools, Nick Gibb, and our local MP, Steve Brine. They met staff and governors to find out more about the school before meeting students and answering questions on government policy. The visitors were then given a tour of the campus by our Student Leaders and Ambassadors.
Learn French or Spanish in Year 7

The Modern Foreign Languages department at The Henry Beaufort School is delighted to be able to offer the choice of either Spanish or French to Year 7 students starting in September 2012. The year group will be divided, with half the year group learning French and the other half learning Spanish. Students who progress well will be able to learn an additional foreign language in Year 8.

The parish of Littleton and Harestock has big plans to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in June. Part of the celebrations will be a commemorative brochure which will be delivered free to about 2000 local homes in May. From Hubei to Henry Beaufort

On Thursday 8th December, twenty-eight teachers from Hubei Province in China paid a visit to Henry Beaufort School. The Chinese teachers are taking part in a study tour of the UK and Henry Beaufort is the seventh school that they have visited so far. The main tour group, which includes over 100 teachers, are based in London, and this was the first time that any of them had visited a school outside the capital.

Students and staff from the hearing impaired unit at Henry Beaufort went along to this year’s Deaf World event at The Guildhall in Winchester. Deaf World is the South Coast’s largest annual deaf exhibition and it provided a valuable opportunity to learn more about different organisations.

Staff raise money for Macmillan

Staff at Henry Beaufort have been turning cakes into cash to support Macmillan. Teachers and support staff brought in cakes to raise money for the cancer charity which is marking its 100th birthday. Together they raised a total of £93.
