'Gold Medal' GCSE Results
Categories: School News
This year's outstanding GCSE results represent an amazing achievement by the students of the school. I am so proud that after so much hard work by students and teachers the school can celebrate record results in 2008.
Thirty two students gained at least 8 A*/A grades with many achieving 10 or more at the top grades. 75% of students gained five or more GCSEs at A*-C and with 65% of students gaining five GCSEs including English and Mathematics. Results in the core subjects were particularly impressive with Science and Maths making significant improvements on previous year's results.
So many students achieved results that were beyond their perceived potential and this will continue Henry Beaufort's excellent reputation for high value added for all students. I am also pleased to see excellent results across the full range of subjects and in line with our high expectations. In addition to this, the Year 10 students enjoyed considerable success in taking GCSE subjects a year early. As part of the school's accelerated programme all students took Humanities and Languages early with particularly impressive results with many students gaining A*/A grades.
This year group has really done the school proud and our leavers' day and ball demonstrated what delightful young people they have become and I am sure many will go on to highly successful careers.
My congratulations and thanks go to the students and especially the staff who have worked so hard to make 2008 a ‘Gold Medal' year for Henry Beaufort.
