Technical Award: Sport

This GCSE equivalent course is aimed at those students who wish to learn about the Sports Industry and have an interest in the technical and analytical skills associated with practical player performance. There are also elements of coaching, officiating and organising sport events and activities.

 

Theory:

The theory elements will cover the fundamentals of the sports industry and its organisations, knowledge of which will be relevant when considering future career choices. The topics include:

- Health, physical fitness and safety

- Contemporary issues in sport

- Local and national organisations of sport

- Careers in physical activity and sport

 

Practical:

Students will develop their player performance in two sport activities, as well as their ability to analyse their own and others performance.

 

Students will coach a sport of their choice. This may be a group or individual activity. They will also have to either officiate or organise a sports event or activity.

 

Practical Assessment:

Player performance (20 marks) and anaylsis (10 marks) 30%

Coaching and officiating/organising 30%
