Grand opening of new resource base for Hearing Impaired Students

On 11th May ex pupil Donna Vokes opened the new resource base for Hearing Impaired students.

The new resource base was specifically designed for Hearing Impaired students by Hampshire County Council Architects. All the resourced area has been acoustically treated inside and outside the building. This enables the students to work in quiet and develop their listening and speech skills.

The new purpose built unit comprises of a reception area, 3 tutorial rooms, teaching and resource area, audiology room, store and office. A wide variety of specialist equipment for audiological testing and monitoring is used. Audio and media equipment is used regularly with the students to enable them to access the curriculum.

Henry Beaufort is a Technology school so the unit is equipped with computers and laptops connected to toughbooks. The increased space and design of this resource base enable us to work collaboratively with many professionals associated with Deaf Education including Cochlear implant teams and Speech and Language Therapists.
