Shoebox appeal

Henry Beaufort is participating in Rotary International’s Shoebox Appeal again this year to help disadvantaged children in poorer parts of the world. The boxes will make a positive difference to the lives of children in places such as Albania, Montenegro, Tanzania, and Romania. Final date for receipt of boxes is 14th October 2011.

Henry Beaufort is participating in Rotary International’s Shoebox Appeal again this year to help disadvantaged children in poorer parts of the world. The boxes will make a positive difference to the lives of children in places such as Albania, Montenegro, Tanzania, and Romania.

We are asking students to fill the boxes with items to give to children less fortunate than themselves this Christmas. Suitable items differ depending on the age of the intended recipient. Here is a list of suggestions.

For children aged 1-3 years
Small soft toy, picture book, hat, mittens, socks, soap, hairbrush, flannel, toothbrush and toothpaste, plus any other suitable small items.

For children aged 4-7 years
Educational book and game, simple jigsaw, ball, Lego, crayons and colouring book, hat, mittens, scarf, socks, soap, hairbrush, flannel, toothbrush and toothpaste, toy vehicle, small doll, skipping rope.

For children aged 8-11 years
Educational book and game, jigsaw, ball, card game, felt tip pens, pencils, pencil case, drawing book, hat, gloves, scarf, socks, comb, soap, flannel, toothbrush and toothpaste, sports items, skipping rope, hair accessories.

For children aged 12-15 years
Educational book and game, playing cards, geometry set, pens, pencils and case, pencil sharpener, rubber, writing/drawing book, hat, gloves, scarf, socks, comb, soap, flannel, toothbrush and toothpaste, wash-bag, hair accessories, sports items.
