Ben Mousley, currently undertaking a BTEC Pre-Degree Foundation Diploma in Art at Eastleigh College, was one of a select few chosen for an RBA Scholar by The Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) and The National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS).

Ben, 18, ex-Henry Beaufort school student, was one of just twenty chosen from over 460 applicants nationally. The work selected was three drawings that Ben created of his family and friends. Ben commented:

'It's a great way to intervene young people within the art world who are just beginning on the journey with professional artists of today. It's a great opportunity. It was quite a shock when I first found out and the fact that they chose my work was quite important to me. It made me realise that all aspects of my work were important and not just the larger paintings that I do.'

The RBA and NADFAS work together to find the most outstanding work by students from around the country. Final pieces are selected on a combination of the highest levels of skill, expression and draughtsmanship. These are then displayed alongside the work of professional artists at the Mall Galleries in London.

Congratulations Ben!
