Year 7 Languages Day 2014

Successful day was had with Year 7 students celebrating this important and exciting event.

Friday 26th September was the European Day of Languages and Year 7 students at Henry Beaufort spent the entire day with the Modern Foreign Languages Department to celebrate this important and exciting event.

The day started with an assembly and was then followed by a French breakfast of croissants, jam and orange juice.  Once their appetites were satisfied, our Year 7 students embarked on a variety of different sessions that explored different aspects of European languages and culture.  Mrs McMillan delivered a session in Spanish and Miss Wilson taught some Portuguese.  Students with Mrs Jackaman investigated where words come from and in Ms Ricci’s students explored cuisine from around Europe.

Some students were able to put their knowledge to the test when they completed Mrs Lewis’ and Mr Hicks’ European Quiz and in Mr Leggatt’s session they investigated different European countries.

We would also like to say a big thank you to Mrs Wild and Miss Barber from the Hearing Impaired Unit who both delivered sessions on using British Sign Language.  By the end of the day both students and staff were exhausted from all of the different activities but this was a reflection of how well behaved and enthusiastic our Year 7 students were.  It was a successful day all round!
