Henry Beaufort awarded Fairactive Award

Fairtrade student activists receive Fairactive Award and attend Fairtrade Conference

Recently, The Henry Beaufort School has been awarded the Fairactive Award - the second of three parts to achieve the full Fairtrade award for the school, as the students involved explain:

We have set up a Fairtrade Group that runs every Wednesday lunchtime where we discuss our Fairtrade plans of action and have recently held an assembly explaining all about Fairtrade. We have also created an action plan in which we will follow to progress along the Fairtrade awards, which includes great activities such as the day we ran where we educated primary school children about Fairtrade which a success! We have also hosted a cake sale where we raised awareness for trade in the process we can re-invest it in future Fairtrade event.

Thomas Bevis and Thomas Liddiard, both Year 9, also explain their recent trip to the Fairtrade Conference:

On Friday 27th February, five Henry Beaufort students travelled to Wildern School to attend a Fairtrade Conference. This interesting meeting was specially designed to help schools like ours achieve the Fairtrade School Award. The day consisted of many fun, Fairtrade-based activities that educated and gave us valuable information about the topic, and how we could implement the Fairtrade spirit into our school. The students that went to the conference were: Thomas Bevis, Thomas Liddiard, Ines Mazdon Delas, Megan Bragan and Annie Stillman with supervision from Mr Howells and Mr Cole. We really enjoyed the day and we hope you will support us as we improve the school according to what we have learnt and achieve the Fairtrade status.
