U14 Girls Football

Girls Football here at The Henry Beaufort School is continually growing with the U13, U14, U15 and U16 teams all taking part in the County Cup competition and the National Cup (English Schools FA Cup).

The U14 team have just completed the first round fixtures of both competitions and have made it safely through to the next round. The team is made up of a combination of Year 8 and 9 players who always show amazing team spirit and an incredible determination to win!

The National Cup Round 1 opposition was Bohunt and the Henry Beaufort team finished winning the game 8-1. Jess Radford scored the opening goal with a well taken header and settled any early nerves. Lucy Smith scored an amazing hatrick with three well taken left-footed shots, and Emily Boorman scored four.

The first round of the County Cup competition was against Swanmore College. The Henry Beaufort girls found themselves 1-0 down as Swanmore scored against the run of play. The Swanmore goalkeeper made some exceptional saves. However, the girls rallied and took advantage of goal scoring opportunities. Katie Allen made it 1-1 and soon the girls settled down and started to play. At half time Henry Beaufort went in with a narrow 2-1 lead but it was still very close.  After half-time the girls scored another four goals – making the final score 6-1; Katie Allen, Ava Burglin, Jess Radford and Emily Boorman (3) all contributing to the goals scored.

There has been some excellent performance including that of the defence, led by the captian Megan Goff. Martha Lowres and Catherine Thorne have impressed and Jennie Barnard - brave in goal!

Excellent start to the season – well done all involved.
