The Henry

Southern Region Acrobatics & Tumbling competition

Last term, seven gymnasts from The Henry Beaufort School took part in the Southern Region Acrobatics and Tumbling competition, held at Southampton Gymnastics Club on Saturday 19th March.   It was an extremely well organised event, with some exceptional talent from across the Southern region; including many schools from London and Buckinghamshire.

Harriet Coxon (Under 14), Abi Shaw and Saskia Servini (Over 14) took part in the tumbling. Each competitor had to complete three tumble runs and be judged by the two judges. The competition was tough!

Saskia Servini finished 2nd overall – an incredible achievement and she will now progress onto the National Competition.

During Gym Squad on a Monday after school club, the gymnasts have been creating two minute routines which includes specific moves and partner balances. Lucy Witt and Jamie, coaches from Treasure Gymnastics, oversee this and coach the students.

The pairings included;

Lara Connelly (Year 9) & Frankie Blake- Jones (Year 7)

Abbie Stephens (Year 7) & Eleanor Quigley (Year 8)

Harriet Coxon (Year 7)  & Abi Shaw (Year 9)

It was an excellent opportunity, albeit very nerve wracking to perform in front of very experienced judges and a large crowd!

Well done to all involved.
