Key Stage 3 & 4
Key Stage 3
Year 7 and 8 students follow a common curriculum of English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities (History, Geography and RE), French or Spanish, Technology, ICT, Physical Education, Expressive Arts (Art, Music and Drama) and Citizenship. In Year 8 students with an aptitude for languages will be offered a second language. Students who study French in Year 7 will be offered German and students who study Spanish in Year 7 will be offered French.
Key Stage 4
Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 continue to study English (Language and Literature), Mathematics and Science. In Year 9, students are given to opportunity to opt for subjects which they will take on to GCSE level. You can read more about this process here. An information evening to explain the options on offer and to offer advice to parents and students takes place. Options include traditional GCSE subjects as well as vocational courses including NVQ Beauty and Engineering. A small number of students follow a more vocational course in Key Stage 4, either with a college placement or in school.
