SMSC in Media Studies

Spiritual – students are encouraged to explore the meaning behind use of images and colours within the media.  This includes looking at the different connotations of colour in different societies and religions.

Social – students work in groups to create short films.  They consider how to create a product collaboratively using the strengths of different group members to achieve the best possible outcome.

Moral  - analysis of different media products, including advertising, looks at the moral implications of the representation of different groups of people.  This includes looking at Male Gaze theory and the representation of older generations within the media.

Cultural – students develop their artistic skills in the creation of media products.  They look at some of the most iconic designs of print adverts, and learn about the history of different genres within TV and film.
