Year 11

Work for Mr Leggatt’s Year 11 French class (Thursday, period 4)

Students should continue to work on the activities set in Wednesday's lesson.  They should complete the exercises set in class and then go through the texts and write down and learn any new vocabulary.

 They also have vocabulary to learn for a test and speaking questions to write up - due Wednesday 7th March.

You have recieved targetted feedback on your strengths and weaknesses from the recent mock. Please visit Corbett Maths to view the relevant videos and worksheets.

 

Year 11 Science Work- all classes
Please use your revision guides and/or the Kerboodle online textbook to make revision notes on a Biology, Chemistry and Physics topic that you found difficult in the recent mock exams. If you are unsure which to choose please just work on the next topics as per your revision plan. If all of your notes are complete please practice the revision guide questions, marking them as you go. If you have any issues come along to Science Clinic next Wednesday .

 

Year 11 English
All
Y11, please check your school email address- you have been sent a practice paper for English Language Paper 1 (The street of Blank wall). Please complete this using your class notes/ practice questions in your exercise book to help.

 

As well as this, you can be using this time to re-read your set literature texts (if you have not already done so): your  19th Century novel (‘Jekyll and Hyde’, ‘Jane Eyre’ or ‘A Christmas Carol’); ‘Lord of the Flies’ and ‘Macbeth’. Year 11 Technology

Work through your revision books answering the questions at the end of a chapter.
Use the glossary pages to make key word cards. Start by choosing 5 words from each page you are not so familiar with and make key word cards for these.

 

Y11 Food Preparation & nutrition
Log on to the E-book and work through the quizzes revising nutrients.

 

Year 11 GCSE Textiles:

The missed CA lesson will now take place during the double lesson next Wednesday.  This will mean that CA39 is period 4 and CA40 is period 5 on Wednesday 7th March.  The missed catch up clinic takes place on the same day, Wednesday 7th March from 2.40-4pm.

In the meantime, the following notes may be written up at home for your CA; progress diary, critical evaluation &  testing / suggested modifications.

Alternatively, if all of this is up to date you can do any of the past papers from the student shared area.

Please complete the following task linked to ‘Lord of the Flies’. Aim to write no more than 300 words.

 

Consider where you have got to in the text. Choose a character (Ralph, Jack, Piggy, Roger, Simon).

Write the message that they would like to send home to their family at this point in the novel.

 

Consider:

How they are feeling about being on the island

How their relationship has changed with the other boys on the island

Their hopes and fears for the future

 

Remember to use a range of ambitious vocabulary/ language techniques/ punctuation in your writing.

Research in to fabrics and how to keep warm in the very cold weather.

 

Year 8

 

Work for Mr Leggatt & Mr Kimber's Year 8 German class (Thursday, period 5)

Students should research the words for my, yours, his and hers in German and look up how they change depending on the gender of the noun they are talking about.  They should write this up in a table in the back of their books.

 

Year 8 English

Write a 300 word piece of creative writing based around the following title: ‘Far over the misty mountains’. You should begin with this title as the first line of your writing.

Describing the weather

Describing the setting

Describing who or what might live here

 

Remember to use a range of ambitious vocabulary/ language techniques/ punctuation in your writing.
