HEADTEACHER'S WELCOME

I am so proud and privileged to be the Headteacher of The Henry Beaufort School. It is the fulfilment of lifetime's career in teaching made rich by the young people and colleagues I have the pleasure of working amongst.

The young people of our school both humble and inspire me every day of my working life. Our school is a stimulating, creative and dynamic place for children to learn, where they are encouraged to try new activities and adventures that stretch and challenge their academic learning and their social awareness.

At The Henry Beaufort School, we share an inclusive ethos which focuses on challenge, enjoyment and success for all.

Central to any school are the students who make up our community. Our school motto is Pride, Happiness, Ambition, and we are confident that 'pupils are happy, and proud of their achievements.’ [Ofsted 2023]

Our core values are centred on independent learning. Our students are resilient learners who take pride in being confident, articulate young citizens. Our unique learning ethos and the impact it has on progress and attainment, has been recognised at national level with publication in the Parliamentary Review for Education.

The curriculum at The Henry Beaufort School combines the traditional with the dynamic and innovative. Our personalised learning pathways ensure that students choose from a broad and balanced curriculum designed to guarantee access to higher education and the modern workplace.

As part of our personalised pathway approach, we ensure that there are significant additional opportunities for all our young people, including a comprehensive programme of opportunities for our high-attaining students. Details of these can be found by clicking here.

We have a five-year plan of education for our young people which includes:

  • Cultural capital events throughout the academic year. Details of these can be found by clicking here.
  • A comprehensive careers programme. Details of these can be found by clicking here.
  • Extracurricular opportunities through our hbX Enrichment Programme. Details of these can be found by clicking here.

We encourage students to take part in enrichment activities to fulfil their potential, whether it is within sport, the expressive arts or as part of the many experiences we offer at The Henry Beaufort School. Details of these can be found by clicking here  . Our school day is extended to allow students to participate in these opportunities. This is supported by an additional after-activities bus service that runs 3 nights a week.

Our school is committed to:

The fundamental role that we play in the academic and moral education of young people.

Placing our young people at the heart of every decision we make, ‘Pupils benefit from strong relationships with staff who model positive behaviour and have high expectations of them.’ [Ofsted 2023]

Offering exciting residential trips to places such as New York, the WW1 Battlefields, Finland and Italy, as well as Ski trips and a whole-year group camping experience.

Providing opportunities for students to demonstrate responsibility and leadership.

Recognising and celebrating the success of our students at every opportunity.

Recognising the value and importance of being ambitious in the right way, not at the expense of others.

Instilling ambition that engenders self-confidence, self-belief and a resilience that, when challenged, allows our young people to face the challenge head on and grow as individuals.

I hope you find our website a good place to start your journey of exploration about our school, but the best way to learn more about us is by visiting us.

I would welcome the opportunity to show you our school and I know our students will take great pride in hosting your visit.

We have a number of open events throughout the first half of the autumn term. Details of our Open Events can be found by clicking here.
