Silver EAL (English as an Additional Language) Excellence Award by EMTAS

We are thrilled to announce that The Henry Beaufort School has been awarded Silver EAL (English as an Additional Language) Excellence Award by EMTAS (Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service).

This award has been developed by EMTAS Specialist Teacher Advisor team, and the EAL Excellence Award is an online school self-assessment framework for monitoring the impact of provision for pupils learning English as an Additional Language (EAL) as well as the wider aspects of black and minority ethnic achievement.

The EAL Excellence Award covers five broad areas:

  • Leadership & Management
  • Pedagogy & Practice
  • Data, Assessment & Progress
  • Teaching & Learning
  • Parental & Community Engagement

Mrs R Eckett (English as an Additional Language Coordinator) said: “I am really delighted that the high level of support we offer our EAL students and the strong awareness that staff across the school have of their needs, has been recognised with this award and praised by EMTAS as being in some areas as ‘truly exemplary’.”
