School during Lockdown; additional information - 3/11/2020

3 November 2020

Dear Parents,

School during Lockdown; additional information

As we all adjust to the announcement at the weekend I wanted to reassure you that school intends to operate as usual. We will focus on the day to day routines that will help our young people settle back into the second half of the term. It is very important that all of our young people continue to attend school.

Year 11 have begun their mock exam programme and we do to need to emphasise the importance of taking these exams seriously. This will allow us to assess what needs to be focused on in the months to come as well as providing important data for the school in the eventuality that we are asked to provide teacher assessment as part of the GCSE outcomes in 2021.

In order to keep our community as safe as we can we will be undertaking the following:

  • Face masks must be worn in all circumstances unless a student is in a lesson or eating their lunch.
  • All staff will wear a face mask or a visor when in a classroom/ teaching situation as well as when moving around the school site.
  • This does not apply to members of the school community who are exempt from wearing face coverings.
  • Please note face masks provided by the school will be charged at 50p a mask.
  • Please do not come on to the school site unless you have been invited in. if you do require access to the school site, for example you are returning your child to school after an appointment or are bringing in a forgotten packed lunch, ring the school in advance for confirmation of access to the school site.
  • Service providers and deliveries will also be required to ring ahead of access onto the school site.

You will also receive later today information on access to remote learning in the eventuality of your child/children having to self-isolate.

Further changes may be published to you as the Lockdown continues depending on the circumstances of the school as well as guidance we may receive from the DfES/ Local Authority.

Thank you for your continued support of the school. Together we will make sure that our young people continue to be supported as well as appropriately challenged with their learning.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Hearle
