The Henry
Beaufort
School

From Hubei to Henry Beaufort

On Thursday 8th December, twenty-eight teachers from Hubei Province in China paid a visit to Henry Beaufort School. The Chinese teachers are taking part in a study tour of the UK and Henry Beaufort is the seventh school that they have visited so far. The main tour group, which includes over 100 teachers, are based in London, and this was the first time that any of them had visited a school outside the capital.

The day involved a tour of the school by our students, various sessions led by members of staff on the curriculum at Henry Beaufort, and an opportunity to observe lessons in a variety of areas. A hearty English lunch of ‘Fish and Chips’ provided sustenance to keep everyone going through what was a packed schedule.

Our Chinese guests were most interested in our status as a Technology Specialist School. They remarked on how impressed they were by the school facilities, the confidence and behaviour of the students, and the creative use of technology across the curriculum.

Our visitors were also fascinated by the suited curriculum areas that we have – in China the students stay in one room and it is the teacher who moves around. This is yet another example of how Henry Beaufort is a truly international school.

Our visitors left having gained a wonderful insight into Henry Beaufort. It was a pleasure to serve as hosts for them, and everyone involved enjoyed an excellent and highly constructive day.
