Recitals on the Rhine
Talented Beaufort musicians visit Germany to undertake their first ever overseas tour.
The Winchester Youth Concert Band and Flute Choir undertook its first ever overseas tour during half term. The band left for Boppard, Germany, during the half-term week and returned home after playing three concerts, including an extremely well-received recital in a care home for the elderly.
Sixteen Beaufort students helped make up the band and for all the young musicians involved it was their first musical tour. The Winchester Band played their first concert in Rudesdesheim am Rhein, a spectacular ferry trip downstream, and another in a riverside park bandstand in Boppard.
“All the Henry Beaufort students, without exception, were a credit to the school, taking part fully and enthusiastically in everything we did,” said Carl Clausen, Ensemble Coordinator.
Between performances the band took time out to ride white-knuckled rollercoasters at a theme park, enjoy a chairlift up for an escalated and beautiful view of Boppard and the Rhine and, for a few, indulge in spaghetti icecream!
