Visit to Kings Worthy Primary School

On Friday 25th May, students from Henry Beaufort School visited Kings Worthy Primary School for an assembly. The students ranged from Year 7 to Year 11 and all of them play in the Henry Beaufort Brass Ensemble which rehearses with Mr Garrod every Friday lunchtime.

On Friday 25th May 2012, 15 students from Henry Beaufort School visited Kings Worthy Primary School for an assembly. The students ranged from Year 7 to Year 11 and all of them play in the Henry Beaufort Brass Ensemble which rehearses with Mr Garrod every Friday lunchtime.

Mr Garrod and his students delivered an amazing assembly to the staff and students at Kings Worthy. The Brass ensemble played a piece with three movements which showed off not only the lovely sound of individual instruments but also how impressive Brass instruments sound when they are played together. In between their performances, some of the students demonstrated their individual instruments. The Primary School students enjoyed the performance, clapping and smiling all the way through. Jamie Wakefield received a particularly enthusiastic reception after playing his Tuba - which is larger than a lot of the students at Kings Worthy!

Many thanks to Mr Clausen for organising this visit, Mr Garrod for teaching the students and rehearsing the Brass ensemble, and to all the Henry Beaufort students who were involved. We expect that a great many students at Kings Worthy will now be inspired to start learning a Brass instrument.

If any other students at Henry Beaufort would either like to start an instrument or join the Brass ensemble, please contact Miss Carr.
