U13 Girls Football start the season
The Under 13 girls football team have started the 2015-2016 season strongly! The Year 8 girls, now experienced members of the team, have combined with a talented group of Year 7 girls to form the new U13 team. This season the girls are looking to retain the U13 County Cup that they won last year.
They have many fixtures as they are involved in the Eastleigh and Winchester league, the County Cup competition and this year, for the first time, the English School Football Knock Out Cup.
On Thursday 24th September the girls travelled to Bohunt to take part in round one of the English School Football Cup and played amazingly. A strong performance in defence limited Bohunt's opportunity on goal and player of the match, Martha Lowres, was excellent, putting in some great tackles and distributing the ball brilliantly. Alice Little settled early nerves with a well taken goal. Katie Allen added three more and Ava Berglin and Tia Gelder also scored some excellent goals. The next round of the competition will be against Weldon School, Surrey.
On Friday 25th September they played against St George's Catholic School in the first round of the County Cup - a tough draw as St George's were the opposition in the final last year! However, building on their excellent performance from the day before the girls showed control and confidence, this time with Catherine Thorne playing amazingly in defence, a 'rock'! Rebecca Connell also scored her first goal for the The Henry Beaufort School. The final score was 3-1 and they will now go on to play Noahswood in the next round.
Good luck girls!
