DEAR Day

On Wednesday 27 February, at 10.15am, you could be forgiven to thinking something funny was going on at Henry Beaufort: in nearly every class you went in to, students and teachers had stopped work and were reading. The students were being encouraged to DEAR - Drop Everything And Read.

On Wednesday 27 February, at 10.15am, you could be forgiven to thinking something funny was going on at Henry Beaufort: in nearly every class you went in to, students and teachers had stopped work and were reading. The students were being encouraged to DEAR - Drop Everything And Read.

Some students read their own books in silence, some students were reading material specifically linked to their lessons and some were encouraged to read each others work. As a school, our two main foci this year for Literacy are Reading and pre-teaching vocabulary, and the DEAR day was just one event of many coming up which is aiming to encourage students to read for pleasure.
