Intermediate Maths Challenge success for Henry Beaufort students

The Intermediate Challenge, run by the UK Mathematics Trust, is aimed at pupils in Year 11 or below in England and Wales. With several Year 9, 10 and 11 Henry Beaufort students entering, we are delighted to share the results!

The challenge takes the form of a one hour paper consisting of 25 questions. Students that perform best are awarded with a Gold, Silver or Bronze certificate. Those students that achieve a Gold, are further separated, with some getting the chance to progress on to sit other papers. In order: Gold Kangaroo, Pink Kangaroo, Cayley, Hamilton and finally, the prestigious Maclaurin paper, which is reserved for best young Mathematicians in the country. Those of you that have seen the film ‘X+Y’, will have seen the main character sit this paper!

We are really pleased to announce that two Henry Beaufort students have qualified to sit this paper: Josh Payne and Dylan Harley - both Year 11. Congratulations to both!

Other results for the school included:

- Gold: 12  (2 Mac and 7 Pink Kangaroos)

- Silver: 21

- Bronze: 33

Well done to all the students who took park. Notable performances include: Josh Payne for Best In School and Year Awards, Danny Maddaford for Best in Year 10 and Benjamin Ferris for Best in Year 9.
