June 2017

Governors and parents have joined the students and staff of The Henry Beaufort School to celebrate maintaining their ‘Good’ Ofsted rating following their latest inspection this May. Just four years after the school’s last inspection, Henry Beaufort are delighted with the outcome, with the Lead Inspector stating ‘Leaders at all levels have an excellent understanding of the school’ and that the ‘leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection and ensured that it continues to improve.’

The letter, which is issued to schools who receive a short inspection, goes on to discuss the high standards demonstrated at The Henry Beaufort School. ‘Teachers and leaders at all levels are enthusiastic and ambitious. High standards are expected of pupils both in their academic achievement and their behaviour.’ Ofsted also recognised the fundamental role of the Governing Body in maintaining the high standards of the school holding the school to ‘account with considerable rigour.’

Chris Wilson, Chair of Governors said, ‘We have always viewed ourselves as an inclusive school and this has been confirmed by the Inspection team.’

The Henry Beaufort School were delighted to receive such praise from Ofsted;

  • ‘You have developed a highly inclusive culture within the school where students feel valued. You celebrate difference and diversity within the student body.’
  • ‘Pupils feel that they are listened to and know who to turn to within the school if they have concerns.’
  • ‘Leaders and governors have ensured that all safeguarding arrangements are fit for purpose, and records are detailed and of a high quality.’
  • ‘Pupils’ comments are very positive about the school. They are happy and consider there to be a strong sense of mutual respect between themselves and staff.

Miss Hearle, Headteacher said: “This report makes it clear that we are very close to achieving our aim of an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ grade. This could not be achieved without the support and commitment of the staff at The Henry Beaufort School and I am so pleased that this has been acknowledged in the report.

We are very proud of the progress that all students make at The Henry Beaufort School but we are not complacent about this progress. We are determined to keep on improving those outcomes ensuring that all of our students have the very best life chances.

This is only possible through the hard work and dedication of all of the school staff and our governors, as well as the support of the Local Authority; all of whom work above and beyond to provide the children at our school with the very best education.
